I agree with both methods. Depends on the need. I think the OnItemDataBound is especially useful if we need to cast the item, this was especially useful to me while doing the search results display.

Hi - I have downloaded and installed EviBlog, and tried to create a blog as explained in the setup instructions. All is fine while I am inside the Page Editor - I can see my blog and my posts. However when I publish the site and then browse to the page there's nothing there - the source for the page is as shown below. What am I doing wrong? Other people seem to have had good results with it...

Also, as asked above, do you have to be logged in to Sitecore in order to create posts (or add comments)?

Anyone else having livewriter integration issues? Installed lastest version 1.6.1 and livewriter tells me I don't have a blog on the server.

What I can't find out on trac.sitecore.net:

Do blog authors have to be logged in in sitecore?

Since there's a limitation of logged in users it's an important question to us.

Does anyone have an example of a live site that is running the EviBlog module? We would like to see some good examples that are out there in the real world. I always appreciate the demo sites but would love to see in action.

Not sure if you're referring to my code or something Alex mentioned, but you might have missed the .Select() Linq query I'm using to turn the TargetIDs into a collection of Item's.

Also, instead of setting just IDs as the datasource, you could set Item[] as a datasource and get the same result with:

Item='<%# Eval("ID") %>'

Alex,

That's how we always used to do it. This way saves us the hassle of binding the ItemDataBound event, casting the DataItem, finding the control by ID, casting the control to a field renderer, then setting the item.

There will be some situations that require the codebehind method, but i think this is a good way to just knock out a basic sublayout in a project that probably has many other similar repeaters.

Hi Kevin,

I prefer setting the Item property of the FieldRenderers in OnItemDataBound event of the Repeater. This way your markup in ASCX becomes even cleaner as you don't need this:

Item=“<%# Container.DataItem %>”
