Speaking in Austin

The great thing about living in Texas is that there is three SharePoint users groups less than three hours away from me. I’m excited to have the opportunity to be speaking in Austin twice in the next couple weeks. The first talk is tomorrow night (2/13 at 6:00 pm) at the Austin SharePoint Users Group (@AustinSPUG) where I’ll be speaking about my experience publishing SharePoint 2013 Apps to the Office Store. It’s at the Microsoft office in Austin.

Then, I’ll be making a return trip on 3/2 for SharePoint Saturday Austin (@SPSATX) at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center (Map). There, I’ll be talking about new development features in Visual Studio 2012. This talk will cover features that developers can take advantage of for both SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone. See you there!

I survived another SharePoint Saturday in Houston this weekend and had a great time. It was fun seeing old friends and making some new ones as well. I am excited that it’s already time for SharePoint Saturday Houston again this Saturday on 4/28. We already have more than 500+ people registered and it is sure to be a huge event. I’m speaking about new SharePoint Development features in Visual Studio 11. It’s a fun talk because it lets me pretend I am still a developer. I did build a web part today so maybe I still am. :) If you haven’t registered yet, you better do it fast. I think there is already a waiting list. Many thanks to Victor and all of the many sponsors, volunteers, and speakers that make this event possible. I can’t wait to see everyone!

It’s been a busy month for speaking (among other things). Last month, I spoke about getting started with SharePoint Online development at SharePoint Saturday New Orleans. The New Orleans crew (Cherie, Beth, and Tiffany) did a great job putting the event together. Here are the slides that I referred to in that talk.

Office 365 – Introduction to SharePoint Online Development

Last week, I made the trip over to San Antonio to see Tom Resing (@resing) and the fine folks there. There I presented to a full room of people looking to learn more about the new SharePoint development features in Visual Studio 11. If you have been following my blog lately, you know I have been posting a lot about the new features lately. As promised, here are the slides from that talk.

New Development Features in Visual Studio 11

For my next presentation, I’ll be speaking this week at the Houston Cloud Tech Symposium on 4/4. This is a new event for me so I’m not sure what it will be like. I’ll be talking about how you can use SharePoint Online for Extranets. If you are in Houston this week and are attending the event, come see me.

Finally, I’ll be presenting my Visual Studio 11 talk at SharePoint Saturday Houston later this month on 4/28. That event is always no less than epic so you need to be there.

Speaking at SharePoint Saturday New Orleans and San Antonio SharePoint Users Group

I’m excited to be speaking at a number of events over the next few weeks. The first event is SharePoint Saturday New Orleans this weekend on 3/24. There, I’ll be speaking about developing solutions for SharePoint Online (Office 365). This new talk will be packed full of information, tips and more. We’ll even look at how we can use Visual Studio 11 Beta to make deploying to the cloud easier.

Then on Tuesday of next week (3/27), I’ll be speaking at the San Antonio SharePoint Users Group. This is my first appearance there and I’ll be showing off the new features in Visual Studio 11 for SharePoint development.

Then on April 4th, the Houston Cloud Tech Symposium is coming up. I’ll be speaking about using SharePoint Online as an extranet. That’s the day after my birthday but I’m sure everything will be fine. :)

Finally, to wrap up April (4/28), we have SharePoint Saturday Houston. For those of you who have been before, you know that this event, it will be no less than epic. Last year will be hard to beat.

I’m excited about all of these events coming up. All of these are brand new talks so I hope they are good. :)

Speaking at Office 365 Saturday Redmond!

I’m excited to be speaking at the first Office 365 Saturday in Redmond on 2/25. This new event will be an exciting display of all things Office 365. I’ll be talking about all of the cool things you can do with Search in SharePoint Online. I gave this talk at SPC11, but I gave the talk an upgrade with the use of Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview. We’ll look at what you can do out-of-the-box with search and then write a custom Silverlight application to query search web services. If you’re looking to get more out of search be sure to stop by and check out my session.

I’m on my way to Denver this week and I’m really excited. I’m speaking at SharePoint Saturday Denver. This year’s event is a two day event (11/11 and 11/12). I’ll be talking about one of my favorite topics SharePoint Search. Sorry, I’ve been slacking. I’m a full week behind on posting my slides from SharePoint Saturday Houston 2011. This SharePoint Saturday was certainly unforgettable and I had a great time both attending and speaking. I presented my Beginning SharePoint 2010 Development talk to a room packed full of people. SharePoint Saturday Houston! Be there!

I’m absolutely excited to be speaking again at SharePoint Saturday Houston this year on May 7, 2011. This event put on by the great people at H-SPUG is one of the most well executed community events in the country. Props go to @Victor_Chat and all of the sponsors, volunteers, speakers, and other people that make this event happen. With over 500 people expected, you know this will be a great event to learn more about SharePoint. I’ll be giving my Intro to SharePoint Development talk where I’ll be hopefully converting numerous new people to the dark side. :)

I’m looking forward to seeing some old faces there as well as meeting some new ones.

This event will be located again at the Norris Convention Center – City Centre (803 Town & Country Lane, Houston, TX 77042).

I had the pleasure of returning to Kansas City this weekend for my third SharePoint Saturday up there. I got to see some old friends and make some new ones. I am excited to be going back to Kansas City again this weekend to speak at SharePoint Saturday Kansas City. This is my third SharePoint Saturday in KC and I can’t wait to see old friends and make some new ones. I’ve got two talks this year: Beginning SharePoint Development for ASP.NET Developers and How the SharePoint BCS can change your life. These are some of my favorite talks to give and I’ve revamped them so they should be quite informative. I hope to see everyone there!

I had a great time this weekend at SharePoint Saturday Houston. The event was well run and @danluciano, @victor_chat, @davidfrette, and everyone else involved did a great job. I’m not sure what the final turnout numbers were, but it sounds like there was more than 400. I had the privilege of doing two talks: PowerShell Basics in SharePoint 2010 and Introduction to SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Search. The PowerShell talk was a joint talk with Kyle Kelin (@SPKyle) and was a lot of fun. As promised, the slides are attached. If you were in the PowerShell talk, I mentioned the post about building a cmdlet, so here is the link.
